Maurice Harvey, has been a member of the trustee team for CanalAbility for 10 years. After being introduced to the charity by a mutual friend of his wife at their local Rotary Club, Maurice learned that the organisation was in search for a treasury, and his credentials and working history were a perfect fit!
As a qualified chartered accountant, with 20 years’ experience working in a large high street bank in London, Maurice has used his management skills at CanalAbility, to provide accurate budgeting strategies. He also makes sure the charity produces financial accounts with as much information as possible, to provide a clear outlook for the months and years ahead.
In his spare time Maurice enjoys doing DIY, in particular large-scale, professional projects. Recent projects have seen him create a liveable basement in his house; a workshop in his garden and a greenhouse.
By being part of the CanalAbility team, Maurice is actively involved with the real-world financials of a small business. Whilst he has to ensure that the organisation meets statutory requirements so that the charity can continue to succeed; he loves being able to help others in need, for the greater good.
