CanalAbility was one of only 5 local charities to be recognised in the annual Heart 4 Harlow community awards for 2012.
Nominated and voted for by the readers in the local Harlow press, awards are given in all areas affecting local life. CanalAbility was voted an award winner in the voluntary sector.
Each year, almost 3000 people access the inland waterways on specially adapted CanalAbility boats. People of all abilities but particularly those with disabilities, benefit from these boating activities.
Collecting the award, General Manager Doreen Goodall said “we regularly receive appreciation from our clients but to be recognised by the whole community is really special and a credit to the hard work of all our volunteers”
