How You Can Help Us

We are a charitable organisation that does not receive any Government funding. We rely entirely on hire fees, donations and sponsorship to continue providing our services. The charity provides a unique opportunity for people with disabilities to enjoy boating on the river, along with their friends,  families, and carers.

There are many ways that you can support us:

Support us by running a fundraising event on our behalf, or taking on a charity challenge.

By making a donation,  you can help us do more great work and help create opportunities for people with disabilities to enjoy the river on one of our adapted Canal Boats

We are always searching for new volunteers, whether that is to skipper or crew the boats; lending a hand at the many events we are involved in or maintaining the boats.

Get Your Company Involved: There are a number of ways that your company work with us; from nominating us as your Charity of the Year, making a donation, to sponsoring a boat or event.

Legacies

Some people may also choose to donate money to us in their wills. Any donations in a Will are exempt from inheritance tax and benefit the charity enormously. Should you leave more than 10% of your estate to charity, then instead of paying inheritance tax of 40%, the rate of tax is reduced by 10%. This means that your estate may pay less inheritance tax as a result of giving something to charity.

If you would like to leave something to CanalAbility simply include the following wording in your Will to ensure that the gift will come to us:

  • PECUNIARY LEGACY (CASH LEGACY):

Or simply by Spreading the Word – the more people that know about us, the more disabled people when can help to enjoy the river and gain a sense of independence; and the more opportunities we have to find new supporters and sponsors.

The Trustees are enormously grateful for all the donations made by our supporters, without your help we would struggle to provide the services we do provide to our clients.
